Celebrating Our Engagement

So … yesterday David and I got engaged … and the rest of our day afterward was turned into one big celebration. Because David flew my BFF Sarah out from Detroit to be with us for our special trip, the three of us have been almost entirely inseparable. As the realization of our engagement settled in, the 3 of us decided to head out into Amsterdam for dinner and celebratory drinks. We enjoyed a very fun day/evening/night and kicked off our Amsterdam vacay in awesome style.
I have to say … I was VERY surprised to learn how long David had been planning yesterday’s engagement surprise. I now know that he’s been planning the big moment since last Summer! I’ve also learned that a select few people, his family included, have been in on the secret FOR MONTHS … without my knowledge — AT ALL. Even the hotel staff here at the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam and the Holland Board of Tourism at ArtsHolland.com was in on the secret! Sneaky bastards, all of them :) You know, I thought my nosey ass knew everything about David’s business but I guess I was sorely mistaken. David personally designed my ring and has put in countless hours working and planning his proposal. I can’t even tell you … he did an absolutely perfect job all around. I couldn’t be happier … we are just so happy.
After we grabbed a delish Mexican meal last night, we made our way to SoHo pub … which is the bar where David and I hung out the first night we met. Back then, it was David, me and our friend Rachel whooping it up in Amsterdam. Last night, it was David, Sarah and me doing the same. We danced to Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé … you name it, they played it last night. We had a blast.
After our late night, we all retired to our hotel and, er, further celebrations ensued. Ahem :) Today, we venture out into Amsterdam again, courtesy of ArtsHolland.com, to take in a few museums, including the Van Gogh Museum (which you can learn about HERE). It was the Holland Board of Tourism that is kinda sorta responsible for David and me meeting 6 years ago on that first blogger trip back in 2006 … I was FLOORED that they graciously offered to take such great care of us again on this trip. They have a few fun things planned for us to do … which I am very excited for. I can’t even believe how special this trip has become … I am just over the moon.
